For C.IN.E., sustainability is a fundamental value that has been present in every phase of the renovation of the building that houses the creative centre. Two main actions reaffirm our commitment to the environment and the surrounding area.
INSTALLATION OF SOLAR PANELS
With funding from the European Union through the Next Generation EU fund and various private contributions, we installed solar panels in 2023, guaranteeing a percentage of self-consumption. This photovoltaic energy installation serves a dual purpose: self-sufficiency and the ability to support limitless creative work.
On the one hand, we generate our own electricity, drastically reducing our dependence on the electrical grid and protecting ourselves from price volatility. Furthermore, we minimise our environmental footprint: unlike energy generated by fossil fuels, solar energy does not release harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Sustainable, carbon-free energy solutions are essential to slow climate change and prevent further damage to the environment. The energy generated allowed us to install a new climate control system, providing a comfortable temperature and ensuring that C.IN.E. can open its doors and foster creativity year-round, including the coldest months.
PLASTIC FREE BALEARICS CERTIFICATION
Thanks to the work carried out through the Ciclop Festival, C.IN.E. has received Plastic Free Balearics/HAPI Guardian certification, issued by the Save the Med Foundation. This accreditation recognizes businesses and institutions that go beyond the Balearic waste law and completely eliminate single-use plastics. With this measure, we not only promote zero-waste practices and a circular economy, but also strengthen the protection of our island environment and the Mediterranean Sea, which is particularly vulnerable to marine pollution.
